Editorial Standards
How we decide what goes on this site.
These are the rules we hold ourselves to. They exist so you can judge our work by something other than how confident it sounds.
What we cover, and why
We publish on meal prep because it is a solvable problem that most people are given bad advice about. Topics are chosen because readers ask about them or because the existing coverage is wrong, thin, or written by someone who has clearly never cooked the dish. We do not publish on a subject simply because it gets traffic.
How recipes are developed and tested
Every recipe published here is cooked before it goes live. Testing is done in a normal home kitchen with equipment a reader would plausibly own, not in a commercial kitchen with restaurant-grade gear.
Because this is a meal prep site, we test one thing most recipe sites do not: what the food is like on day three. A recipe that is excellent hot and inedible cold is not a meal prep recipe. Where a dish only holds for a day or two, we say so in the recipe rather than leaving you to find out.
- Storage method and container type where it changes the outcome.
- How many days the dish realistically holds in the fridge, and whether it freezes.
- Reheating instructions, including what to do about textures that suffer.
- Components that should be stored separately and assembled later.
Nutrition information
Nutrition figures are calculated from the listed ingredients using standard composition databases. They are estimates. Brands vary, produce varies, and how much oil actually ends up in the pan varies. Treat the numbers as a guide, not a measurement.
Nothing on this site is medical or dietetic advice. If you are managing a medical condition, pregnancy, an allergy, or a therapeutic diet, take the recipe to a qualified professional rather than trusting a number on a food blog.
Product recommendations
We recommend kitchen equipment only where we have used the product or worked with it long enough to have a real opinion. Recommendations state what the product is good at and where it falls short, because every product falls short somewhere.
- We do not accept payment in exchange for a positive review or a ranking position.
- We do not receive free product in exchange for coverage unless that is explicitly disclosed in the article.
- Sponsored content, on the rare occasion it appears, is labelled as sponsored at the top of the page.
- Affiliate links never change the price you pay, and they never change our verdict.
Sourcing and accuracy
Factual claims about food safety, storage times, and nutrition are sourced from primary authorities such as the USDA, the FDA, and peer-reviewed research, and are linked in the article so you can check them yourself. We do not cite other blogs as authorities on food safety.
Where the evidence is genuinely mixed, we say it is mixed rather than picking the more confident-sounding answer.
Corrections
We get things wrong. When we do, we fix the article rather than quietly deleting it, and where the error was substantive we note what changed.
If you spot an error — a wrong measurement, a broken step, an out-of-date claim, a link that goes nowhere — tell us through the contact page. Corrections from readers who actually cooked the recipe are the most useful feedback we get.
Editorial independence
No advertiser, affiliate partner, or brand has any input into what we publish, how we rank products, or what a review concludes. Our advertising is served programmatically, which means we do not choose which brands appear on a given page and an advertiser cannot buy a change to the article it appears beside.
How the site makes money is set out in full in our Disclaimer.
How this content is produced
Articles and recipes on this site are written and edited by people. We use software the way any modern publisher does — for research, for nutrition calculation, for spotting broken links and outdated information across a large archive — but a human decides what a recipe says, cooks it, and is accountable for it.
We do not publish machine-generated articles without human development, testing, and review.
Comments and reader contributions
Comments are open because readers cooking the recipe is the best quality control we have. Comments are moderated for spam and abuse, not for disagreement — if a recipe did not work for you, that comment stays up and we would rather answer it.
Reader comments are the opinions of the people who wrote them and are not endorsed by Meal Prepify.
Questions about any of this
